The
Institute of Population and Labor Economics (IPLE-CASS), Chinese
Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), was established in l980.
Current director is Professor CAI Fang.
The Institute of Population and Labor Economics is divided into
four research divisions, two editorial departments, and an administrative
office in charge of research coordination, foreign exchange, graduate
program, reference section, and personnel management.
Center for Human Resources Research, CASS, was set up based on
Institute of Population and Labor Economics. It emphasizes studies
on issues of labor migration and labor market integration.
The four research divisions are (l) Labor and Human Capital,
(2) Population and Social Development, (3) Quantitative Analysis
of Population and (4) International Popu1ation Comparing. Chinese
Journal of Population Science, a bimonthly journal, and Almanac
of China's Population, a yearly publication are internationally
circulated publications by IPLE.
