On November 16, 2009, the “Theories, Policies and International Experiences of Employment Promotion Conference” was held on the second Conference Hall of CASS and co-organized by the Institute of Population and Labour Economics, CASS and Cairn Cross Economic Research Foundation. The “China’s Employment Policies in International Perspective” report, done by Cai Fang, Director of Institute of Population and Labour Economics, Richard Freeman, professor of Harvard University, and Adrian Wood, development economist of Oxford University, was presented on the conference. Important attendants included: Michael Spence, 2001 Nobel Prize Winner in Economics, Professor of Stanford University, formerly director of World Bank; Edwin Lim, formerly first World Bank Chief Representative of the Representative Office in China; Han Wenxiu, Director of Macroeconomic Department of the Office of Central Leading Group on Finance and Economic Affairs; Yu Faming, Director of Employment Promotion Department, MOHRSS; Han Jun, Director of Research Department of Rural Economy, Development Research Centre of the State Council; Ge Yanfeng, Director of Research Department of Social Development, DRC; and so on.
