Division of Social Security Research was established at the end of 2006.  The division currently has seven research staff members, including one professor, three associate professors, and three assistant professors.

Under the guidance of Maxism’s economic and social theories, with reference to the theories and research of social security in modern western countries, Division of Social Security Research conducts studies on the issues of China’s social security in multiple perspectives of economics, demograph, sociology and other disciplines, and pushes forword academic dialog in the domain.  The general objectives of the division are to bring up key researchers, to provide substantial and accumulative results, and to formulate comprehensive thoughts and views for important theories and policies, in order to play roles of thinking bank and consultancy and serve for the reform and development of China’s social security system.  The division pays primary attention to reseach projectes with profound theoretical and practical significance, and places emphasis on research team fostering and discipline construction.    

The main research interests of the division are as follows: (1) social security theories and social policies, (2) income distribution and poverty reduction, (3) migration and integration of rural-urban social security, (4) demographic transition, labor market development and social welfare formation, and (5) comparative studies between China’s and other countries’ social security systems. Within these, (1) and (2) are the major fields of the division.
