Dr. Zhang Zhanxin is a professor of Institute of Population and Labor Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is also the head of the Social Security Division, and the director of the Center for Migration Research, of the Institute of Population and Labor Economics. One of his major research interests is in China’s migration sociology, focusing on social factors and social change with respect to internal population migration. The other is in institutional dynamics and development of China’s social security system. He also study labor market segmentation in urban China. He has conducted some survey projects on employment, income, housing, and social insurances of China’s urban population. He is also involved in several international cooperative research projects on housing and migrant labor’s recruitment.
