The Impacts of Global Financial Crisis on China

Consultant for the UNDP, 2009. The paper is a country case study for China to meet the strong demand for the technical and policy advice on the design and expansion of safety net programmes to help protect vulnerable groups.

Asses the Hkou Reform in Chongqing

Consultant for the World Bank, 2009. The project is to examine the hukou reform in Chongqing and its impacts on labor market development, on income inequality changes, and to discuss the policy options of rural-urban integration.

Aging and Employment in China

Consultant for ILO, 2008. The project focuses on poverty situations of the old people and discusses the role of employment on poverty reduction for the elderly.

Reducing Inequality in Guangdong through Labor Market

Consultant for the World Bank, 2008. The project is to examine the role of labor market development on income inequality changes in Guangdong and to discuss the policy options of reducing inequality through labor market.

Labor Market Development in China: Situations, Legal Framework, and Implications

Consultant for OECD, 2008. The project is to review labor market development, recent trend, and legal framework in recent years of China. The paper also tries to find the implications of those changes for economic growth in the future.

Reshaping China’s Welfare System

Principal investigator. The project is supported by the Ford Foundation in 2007-2009. The project is going to discuss welfare system integration among regions and between rural and urban areas. Raise policy recommendation on unification of welfare system in China.

Analysis on China’s Minimum Wage System

Consultant for ILO, 2007. Review the policy changes, implementation, impacts on individual, criteria of Minimum Wage in urban China .

Labour Market Scenarios for the Decent Work Decade in China

Consultant for ILO, 2007. The project is to review the labor market trend in recent years and predict the labor market scenarios in the next decade. Based on the analysis, policy suggestions were raised for the Decent Work in China.

Urbanization Studies on China

Consultant for CERP. The project is to analyze the speed, trend, and policy issues related to urbanization in China. A brief policy report was submitted to Chinese top policy makers.

Employment in Fast Growing Regions of China

Consultant for the World Bank. The project is to compare the employment pattern and labor market characteristics between China’s fast growing regions and other areas.

China’s NCMS: Economic Implications for Households

Team leader and principal investigator with responsibility of designing research framework, survey instruments, and conference arrangement, the research will focus on the households’ economic response to New Cooperative Medical System in rural China. (Ford Foundation, 2006)

Poverty Assessment in Urban China

One of the Principal investigators with the responsibility of designing survey instruments and leading household survey in 12 cities, research on Assessment of social assistance coverage in Urban China, Explaining changes in urban poverty rates and causes over time, etc, (the World Bank, 2005)
