Rural Development and Peasant Income Increase – Poverty, Income Dispersion and Steady Growth

This project insists on combing modern economic theories with the problem of peasant income since the Economic Reform and finding solutions to the Three Rural Issues in the macro and micro levels. Firstly, the research will connect the peasant income problem with economic development stage and macroeconomic policies, estimate the nature of the peasant income problem, and test the macroeconomic policies’ influences on the peasant income increase. Secondly, it will discuss the future of peasant income increase, and the change and tendency of peasant income increase structure by mixing up economic growth theories and income distribution theories. Thirdly, it will analyze the nature of urban-rural inequality in aspect of market and the influences of migration on the rural poverty and urban-rural gap. Fourthly, it will analyze and explore the way to further economic reform in the aspect of marketization and according to the economic laws of Three Rural Issues, to solve the problem of “Rural Income Trap”, and to move on to sustainable development. The research will evaluate the problems of peasant income growth, urban-rural gap, rural poverty and development in multiple aspects, purpose some creative research results, extend people’s understanding of the Three Rural Issues in the aspect of theory and policy, and elaborate the nature of peasant income problem and urban-rural gap, economic laws of the Three Rural Issues, and policy suggestions.
